In type the Sussex is somewhat similar to the Dorking save that it is shorter in body and longer in leg. The body should be more or less rectangular with a marked slope toward the rear. The sketch numbered 2 illustrates this point. In color the Speckled Sussex is a rich mahogany bay each feather having a crescentic black mark at the end, tipped with white. The illustration gives the color pattern.
