Sandra : I just found a video on a subject that I have been concerned about regarding some of my roosters. The spurs on a couple of my boys have gotten so long that they seem to be interfering with how they walk. A couple have the old John Wayne cowboy walk going on. I had wondered about trimming the spurs but was afraid to do it unless I knew more. Hence I have been on a mission of discovery.

I finally found this video on trimming roosters spurs and thought I would share it with your readers. I know most of them have hens but some of us do have roos. Mine do a fine job of protecting my girls so I consider them an important part of my flock.

There are other methods, one being to use a hot potato and clippers but this method seemed to be the least painful and the least likely to cause a lot of bleeding. It doesn't seem to upset the roo and the man doing the trim seems to really care for his chickens. Here is the video
