March 2012
Vol. 1

Jenny : I thought I'd get in on the fun and send a few pictures. The first is our chicken coop. My husband built it and I painted it. It looked too plain with the basic paint, so I took inspiration from the Quilt Barns throughout the US and made my very own "Quilt Coop". : We have a lot of wildlife up here in Washington, so I chose the "Bear Paw" pattern for the block. The second is a picture of our eggs. We have five girls (Ameraucana, Welcummer, Black Sexlink, Dominique and Silver Laced Wyandotte) and a few started laying right at 20 weeks. I was starting to get discouraged when 10 months rolled around and two still weren't laying. Much to my delight, they started laying last week and have the most beautiful eggs of all! So, this is a bit of encouragement to new chicken owners out there. Your patience will be rewarded, hang in there!
